Bayern Munich wants to join a Brazilian Team

Bayern Munich defender Dante says that he would be extremely delighted with a Brazilian national team call-up over the next few months. The defender has divided opinion in the last few months after a poor World Cup 2014, but he continues to be an important player for his club. The 31-year-old is entering into the twilight of his international career, but he is still hoping that a call-up to the Brazilian national team will help him feature at the Copa America amongst many other competitions. Dante may have played only one match at the World Cup, but it was in the disastrous 7-1 thrashing against Germany.

Since his debut in 2013, Dante has featured in only 13 matches for Brazil. He is not holding much hope of a call up, as Brazil are going through a major restructuring under new manager Dunga. As a result, he has confirmed his commitment to Bayern Munich, but says that a Brazilian call-up remains his dream. Brazil have largely been involved in only friendly matches up until now. They have been globetrotting and playing against the likes of Japan and Hong Kong in friendly matches. Dunga has been able to get comfortable victories, but it remains to be seen if the form would continue against the top teams.

“I work first and foremost for Bayern. That’s the way it has to be.I totally understand that when a new coach comes in after a World Cup that younger players are going to get a chance. That’s only natural. But it goes without saying that if I get called up again, I’ll be delighted to go.The Selecao has given me a lot and it makes me and my family feel very proud, which is why I’ve got no right to say no to the Brazilian national team,” said the former Juventus defender.
