Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson could return to the team sooner than expected, based on comments of Coach Jurgen Klopp.
The Three Lions star has a heel condition Plantar fasciitis in his left foot that is limiting his return to the set-up.
Henderson has been sidelined since the February victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The player was ruled out for the rest of the season earlier but the recent comments of the German manager hint a possible return before the end of the season.
Klopp confirmed that Henderson should be fully fit for the team’s pre-season fixtures in July but he did not give a specific timeline on his comeback date.
“It’s too early to say. Next season is the latest moment of course but anything can happen. We stay positive because he is strong,” Klopp responded when asked how much time Henderson would require to fully heal.
Klopp said the player needed “the green light” to rejoin the team and that “the start if preseason” was the “latest moment” he is expected in the team. (more…)
Former Liverpool midfielder DietmarHamann has questioned the club decision to give the German manager Jurgen Klopp a six-year contract.
He believes that the board has led themselves carried by the emotion and not the head.
DietmarHamann said that Klopp has yet to convince the fans that he is a good manager and so far he has not done a lot. He stated that there is no way that Liverpool can challenge for the title at the moment and that major changes are needed if they wanted to win the title last season.
DietmarHamann said that Klopp has no plan B when it comes to winning matches when his Gegenpressing style is not working. For him, this tactic does not work in the Premier League because teams know how to sit back and hit you on the break.
The problem with Klopp is that he is so used to using this tactic in the Bundesliga that he is finding it hard to adapt in the Premier League. (more…)
Frank Lampard says that José Mourinho will have only one thing on his mind when he returns to Stamford Bridge on Sunday and that is to get a win.
Lampard played under Mourinho, who had two spells at Chelsea, for a number of years and the duo share a lot of priceless moments in the form of trophies like the Champions League and the Premier League. The English midfielder was one of the favourite players of Mourinho and the Portuguese tried to sign him at his club’s like Inter Milan without much success.
Mourinho has since departed Chelsea and joined Manchester United in the summer. Turning around the fortunes of the Red Devils will be one of the biggest tasks assumed by the manager in his career. So far, United have been highly inconsistent in the campaign and are outside the top six going into the game against Chelsea. The visit to Stamford Bridge on Sunday will only be the second time Mourinho comes to the dugout as the opposition manager. (more…)
Frank Lampard signed a pre-contract with New York City FC on January of 2015 but it wasn’t until August that he managed to make his appearance for the MLS club; the main reason of why the experienced midfielder had to take such a long time to make his debut was due to injuries.
The 37 year old player is being riddled with injuries that have forced him to stay out of the pitch for a significantly long period of time. The 2016 season of the Major League Soccer has already kicked off but Frank Lampard has not managed to make a single appearance for New York City FC as his injuries still continue to keep him on the sidelines.
Even when Frank Lampard does recover from his recent string of injuries, it’s not necessarily guaranteed that the Englishman will have a starting role in the team of the head coach Patrick Vieira as he has a plethora of midfield options to utilize.
When it comes to performing in the Premier League, Frank Lampard has marked his name in the history-books of the top tier English League as he is considered to be one of the best players ever to perform in that league but Lampard has a completely different story in regards to the MLS as he is already being considered as one of the worst players to compete in the American League. Jose Mourinho has rejected speculation that Chelsea would be prepared to listen to offers for winger Mohamed Salah, who has slipped down the pecking order at the club. Signed for around £ 12 million last January, the former FC Basel man was expected to be the substitute for the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian when they were injured.
However, Chelsea have been extremely lucky with regards to injuries in the last 12 months and Mohamed Salah has barely featured in the matchday squads especially the season.
His performances when picked for the less important competitions like the League Cup have also not been good enough to warrant a selection in the Premier League.
