WHERE DO INTER GO FROM HERE?

For a season that started with a refreshing capable mind and hand in the mould of Dutch man Frank de Boer plus the impressive run in the late stages of the previous, Inter’s collapse – yet again – is now downright depressing.

In winning the treble with Jose Mourinho 7 years ago, few could have imagined that even if the sun in Milan was going to go down, such nadir was least expected. Like a temporary twilight, champions have always had to get a few knocks right after triumphant eras, and they do bounce back most of the time.

No team stays champions forever, but Inter’s case has become something far bigger than common latent of form slumps that affect great teams.

It is good to note that outsides the law of diminishing return carrying out its course, an unfavourable economic climate that came over Italy back in the day – something that affected every club –was part of the factors that sent the Neazzurri down this path. (more…)

HENDERSON COULD RETURN SOON

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson could return to the team sooner than expected, based on comments of Coach Jurgen Klopp.

The Three Lions star has a heel condition Plantar fasciitis in his left foot that is limiting his return to the set-up.

Henderson has been sidelined since the February victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The player was ruled out for the rest of the season earlier but the recent comments of the German manager hint a possible return before the end of the season.

Klopp confirmed that Henderson should be fully fit for the team’s pre-season fixtures in July but he did not give a specific timeline on his comeback date.

“It’s too early to say. Next season is the latest moment of course but anything can happen. We stay positive because he is strong,” Klopp responded when asked how much time Henderson would require to fully heal.

Klopp said the player needed “the green light” to rejoin the team and that “the start if preseason” was the “latest moment” he is expected in the team. (more…)

Jurgen Klopp criticized

Former Liverpool midfielder DietmarHamann has questioned the club decision to give the German manager Jurgen Klopp a six-year contract.

He believes that the board has led themselves carried by the emotion and not the head.

DietmarHamann said that Klopp has yet to convince the fans that he is a good manager and so far he has not done a lot. He stated that there is no way that Liverpool can challenge for the title at the moment and that major changes are needed if they wanted to win the title last season.

DietmarHamann said that Klopp has no plan B when it comes to winning matches when his Gegenpressing style is not working. For him, this tactic does not work in the Premier League because teams know how to sit back and hit you on the break.

The problem with Klopp is that he is so used to using this tactic in the Bundesliga that he is finding it hard to adapt in the Premier League. (more…)

HENDERSON PRAISES STURRIDGE AND MANE

A calf injury kept Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge sidelined for the club’s last five matches, but a cameo appearance against Everton on Monday night lead to Sadio Mane grabbing a late winner after a run and gun effort that smacked off the post lead to the Senegalese attacker bundling home to give Liverpool the win.

“It’s massive,” said Reds skipper Jordan Henderson when asked about Sturridge returning in time for the holiday fixtures.

“Both him and Emre coming on – two brilliant players coming back from injury – shows the squad depth. I thought they were brilliant when they came on. I am sure the Everton players looking at those two coming on wouldn’t have enjoyed that last 15 minutes. They wouldn’t have liked seeing those two come on,” added the captain.

“Daniel came up with a bit of magic for the goal and he is a huge player for us.”

Injured or marginalized for much of the season, there have been rumours that Sturridge will look to move on when the transfer window reopens next month, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted over and over again that the 27-year old remains a big part of his plans for the Anfield outfit. (more…)

Lampard played under Mourinho, who had two spells at Chelsea, for a number of years and the duo share a lot of priceless moments in the form of trophies like the Champions League and the Premier League. The visit to Stamford Bridge on Sunday will only be the second time Mourinho comes to the dugout as the opposition manager. (more…)

Frank Lampard Backs Jose Mourinho to Succeed at United

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard says that Manchester United have made the right decision in appointing Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

The Portuguese has had a brilliant start to his career at Old Trafford after overseeing two victories in two games. Much of the success has been done to the brilliance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has already taken his league tally to 3 goals. The Swedish striker was signed on a free transfer but it was largely done due to the presence of Mourinho. Mourinho and Ibrahimovic share a great relationship from the pair’s time at Inter Milan.

The relationship between Mourinho and his players is a well-documented aspect. Lampard remains as one of the iconic players and he produced his best under Mourinho time and time again. Prior to his arrival, the position of Lampard in the Chelsea squad was in major doubt. However, he transformed the Englishman into one of the best in the world at his position. Lampard says that Mourinho has the ability to transform the club from the bottom up. After three years of not winning the league title, the club are in desperate need of a lift and Lampard is confident that it will arrive through the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss.
