For a season that started with a refreshing capable mind and hand in the mould of Dutch man Frank de Boer plus the impressive run in the late stages of the previous, Inter’s collapse – yet again – is now downright depressing.
In winning the treble with Jose Mourinho 7 years ago, few could have imagined that even if the sun in Milan was going to go down, such nadir was least expected. Like a temporary twilight, champions have always had to get a few knocks right after triumphant eras, and they do bounce back most of the time.
No team stays champions forever, but Inter’s case has become something far bigger than common latent of form slumps that affect great teams.
It is good to note that outsides the law of diminishing return carrying out its course, an unfavourable economic climate that came over Italy back in the day – something that affected every club –was part of the factors that sent the Neazzurri down this path. (more…)
Former Liverpool midfielder DietmarHamann has questioned the club decision to give the German manager Jurgen Klopp a six-year contract.
He believes that the board has led themselves carried by the emotion and not the head.
DietmarHamann said that Klopp has yet to convince the fans that he is a good manager and so far he has not done a lot. He stated that there is no way that Liverpool can challenge for the title at the moment and that major changes are needed if they wanted to win the title last season.
DietmarHamann said that Klopp has no plan B when it comes to winning matches when his Gegenpressing style is not working. For him, this tactic does not work in the Premier League because teams know how to sit back and hit you on the break.
The problem with Klopp is that he is so used to using this tactic in the Bundesliga that he is finding it hard to adapt in the Premier League. (more…)
A calf injury kept Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge sidelined for the club’s last five matches, but a cameo appearance against Everton on Monday night lead to Sadio Mane grabbing a late winner after a run and gun effort that smacked off the post lead to the Senegalese attacker bundling home to give Liverpool the win.
“It’s massive,” said Reds
skipper Jordan Henderson when asked about Sturridge returning in time for the holiday fixtures.
“Both him and Emre coming on – two brilliant players coming back from injury – shows the squad depth. I thought they were brilliant when they came on. I am sure the Everton players looking at those two coming on wouldn’t have enjoyed that last 15 minutes. They wouldn’t have liked seeing those two come on,” added the captain.
“Daniel came up with a bit of magic for the goal and he is a huge player for us.”
Injured or marginalized for much of the season, there have been rumours that Sturridge will look to move on when the transfer window reopens next month, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted over and over again that the 27-year old remains a big part of his plans for the Anfield outfit. (more…)
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard says that Manchester United have made the right decision in appointing Jose Mourinho as their new manager.
The Portuguese has had a brilliant start to his career at Old Trafford after overseeing two victories in two games. Much of the success has been done to the brilliance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has already taken his league tally to 3 goals. The Swedish striker was signed on a free transfer but it was largely done due to the presence of Mourinho. Mourinho and Ibrahimovic share a great relationship from the pair’s time at Inter Milan.
The relationship between Mourinho and his players is a well-documented aspect. Lampard remains as one of the iconic players and he produced his best under Mourinho time and time again. Prior to his arrival, the position of Lampard in the Chelsea squad was in major doubt. However, he transformed the Englishman into one of the best in the world at his position. Lampard says that Mourinho has the ability to transform the club from the bottom up. After three years of not winning the league title, the club are in desperate need of a lift and Lampard is confident that it will arrive through the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss.
Frank Lampard has been in top form that has helped New York City FC beat the New England Revolution.
He helped to score the winning goal in the game that happened on Wednesday night. The game ended with a score of 1-0 in Foxborough. The New York City FC has definitely been on a high this season as they have won four consecutive games in a row. They are now on top of the MLS Eastern conference. New England on the other hand, has lost its third game in a straight series.
The game saw Thomas McNamara run down with a chipped ball close to the goal line. The cross he did redirected Lampard in the 58th minute. There were two scoring chances for the NYCFC which were present in the first half of the game. Bobby Shuttleworth got into the left, which allowed David Villa to get a shot which was a wide shot. The best chance that New England had for a shot came in the 30th minute. Teal Bunbury put in an open header, which bounced off the crossbar. Shuttleworth received a red card in the game. Finally, it was Frank Lampard who helped the team to win the game. The FC has come into a leading position in the Eastern Conference. Here Frank is the one to thank with three goals in four games that helped the team to get a victory on Wednesday.
It is often the former footballers who are able to point out where the faults of their country team lies and what improvements need to be done in order to get them to perform better.
For instance the Euro 2016 saw the England team crash out when they played against Iceland. Frank Lampard as a former midfielder who has pointed out that the country’s team was not able to perform as per their full potential
. As a result the team has not been able to hold onto their position and was undermined easily by an easy opponent.
Lampard is in a position to pass comment on England’s performance as he had won about 106 caps as well as scored about 29 goals for the country when he was active on the field. He also featured in about four major league games in the country. However, even in his participation times, the country had not been able to go past the quarter finals. (more…)
Frank Lampard signed a pre-contract with New York City FC on January of 2015 but it wasn’t until August that he managed to make his appearance for the MLS club; the main reason of why the experienced midfielder had to take such a long time to make his debut was due to injuries.
The 37 year old player is being riddled with injuries that have forced him to stay out of the pitch for a significantly long period of time. The 2016 season of the Major League Soccer has already kicked off but Frank Lampard has not managed to make a single appearance for New York City FC as his injuries still continue to keep him on the sidelines.
Even when Frank Lampard does recover from his recent string of injuries, it’s not necessarily guaranteed that the Englishman will have a starting role in the team of the head coach Patrick Vieira as he has a plethora of midfield options to utilize.
When it comes to performing in the Premier League, Frank Lampard has marked his name in the history-books of the top tier English League as he is considered to be one of the best players ever to perform in that league but Lampard has a completely different story in regards to the MLS as he is already being considered as one of the worst players to compete in the American League. Former Chelsea FC skipper, Frank Lampard says newly appointed Coach, Antonio Conte has a lot of work to do at Chelsea. The 46-year old Italian was appointed recently to take over the helms at Stafford Bridge from current handler, Guus Hiddink.
The Dutch manager was brought in as an interim manager to transform the fortunes of the EPL giant. Hiddink was not able to bring out a radical transformation to the team’s poor start under former coach, Jose Mourinho, hence the appointment of Anthonio Conte.
Lampard says Conte would be capable of achieving results at Stamford Bridge like he did while at Juventus. Conto managed Juventus and transformed the club to one of the best team in the Serie A. Prior to his arrival at Juve, the club finished in seventh place but Conte led the team to three straight Serie A titles. Anthonio Conte will now step down as the Coach of Gli Azzuri after the Euro 2016 tournament in France this summer.
Despite the fact that the experienced coach has not worked or played in England, Frank Lampard believes he is the right person for the job.
Frank Lampard to Goal: “I think he’s a great manager. I think it’s a big job now, Chelsea. I think it’s a transitional period with the difficult year they’ve had, but I think Conte has fantastic pedigree … what he’s done in Juventus, the work he’s doing now at the Italian (national) team.” (more…)
